Version: [6418] Velorona 1.1.11

Velorona for QGIS 1.1.11 — Global Network Intelligence, Terrain,
Weather, Microwave & Satellite Analysis

Velorona brings telecommunications infrastructure, geospatial data,
environmental conditions, and satellite geometry into one integrated
QGIS analysis workspace.

🌍 GLOBAL NETWORK ANALYSIS

Velorona is designed for worldwide analysis, not just Canada and the
USA.

- Canada: Public microwave link records from ISED.
- USA: Public microwave link records from FCC ULS.
- Worldwide: Import your own infrastructure layers, QGIS layers, or
CSV files and analyze any selected link or two geographic points.

🛰️ SATELLITE & GROUND STATION ANALYSIS

- CelesTrak satellite data.
- Approximately 4,400 worldwide SatNOGS ground stations.
- Satellite visibility and look-angle calculations.
- Satellite-to-ground-station geometry.
- Worldwide analysis capabilities.

⛰️ TERRAIN CLEARANCE ANALYSIS

- Worldwide elevation data using Copernicus DEM (approximately 90 m
resolution).
- Support for custom elevation rasters, including survey DEMs,
LiDAR-derived data, and national elevation models.
- Terrain profile and clearance evaluation along selected paths.
- Explicit NO DATA results with explanations when elevation coverage
is missing.
- Missing elevation is never silently treated as 0 m.

🌧️ MICROWAVE WEATHER & RAIN-FADE EXPOSURE

- Weather conditions at both microwave link endpoints.
- Worldwide weather modelling through Open-Meteo.
- Rain attenuation estimation and comparison against available
fade-margin information.
- Clear distinction between observed, model-derived, calculated, and
assumed values.
- Real weather station observations and ECCC radar coverage for
supported Canadian locations.
- Outside supported radar coverage, results explicitly show "Not
covered" rather than an unmeasured 0.0 mm/h.

🔒 LOCAL HISTORY & PRIVACY

- Analysis weather values are stored locally on your computer.
- 24-hour default retention, configurable from 1 hour to 7 days.
- "What changed" compares current results with previously stored
values.
- No automatic upload of local history.
- CSV export with site names excluded by default; users can explicitly
choose to include them.

⚙️ VERSION 1.1.11 IMPROVEMENTS

- Custom elevation raster selection in terrain analysis.
- Background processing for terrain, weather, and selected-link
weather analyses.
- Improved QGIS responsiveness during analysis.
- Contextual "?" help buttons linked to relevant guide entries.
- New "Get updates" menu item linking to the Velorona signup page. The
plugin itself does not send emails.
- Open-Meteo (CC BY 4.0) and Copernicus DEM attribution in applicable
results and exports.
- Improved radar coverage handling.
- Renamed "Predicted rain fade" to "Estimated rain fade" for more
accurate terminology.

📊 DATA TRANSPARENCY

Velorona distinguishes between:
- Observed
- Model-derived
- Calculated
- Assumed
- Reference data (DEM)

Data source, classification, coverage, and applicable limitations
matter when interpreting results.

🌐 DATA COVERAGE

Public infrastructure records are country-specific. Analytical
capabilities are worldwide.

Terrain clearance, rain exposure, and satellite geometry can be
performed worldwide using supported data sources, selected records,
geographic points, and user-provided layers.

Weather stations and ECCC radar are Canada-specific. Other regions use
available model-based weather data.

📦 REQUIREMENTS

- QGIS 4.0 or newer.
- aei-link-clearance 0.3.x.
- aei-microwave-link-exposure 0.2.x.

Both supporting libraries must be available in QGIS's own Python
environment. Velorona checks dependency versions at startup and
provides installation guidance when needed.
