Environmental surface analysis for Senegal: environmental risk mapping, terrain, hydrography and OpenStreetMap digitizing from Sentinel-2, Landsat and open data.
SN Analyser is a QGIS plugin for environmental monitoring and analysis of Senegal (regions, municipalities or a freely drawn area).
It computes six independent risks scored from 0 to 100, each with a per-pixel risk map: climate (land surface temperature, SPI drought), pollution (air quality index, industrial proximity, optional Sentinel-5P NO2), land degradation (NDVI, EVI, SAVI, NBR, bare soil, salinity), hydrology (wetlands, rainfall, terrain, watersheds, river network, soil types), urbanization (built-up share, density, infrastructure) and biodiversity.
Imagery: Sentinel-2 L2A at 10 m (2017 onwards) or Landsat Collection 2 Level-2 (1984 onwards), cloud-free annual composites.
Terrain and hydrology: Copernicus GLO-30 DEM, contour lines, MERIT-Hydro watersheds and rivers (mghydro.com), GRASS flow analysis, SoilGrids soil types.
Digitizing: automatic extraction of OpenStreetMap features within a user-defined area (transport, hydrography, land cover, boundaries, utility networks, spot heights) into a GeoPackage.
Automatic analysis commentary and PDF / Word report export. The user interface is in French.
Requires an Internet connection (public services, no account needed). PDF and Word export require the reportlab and python-docx Python libraries (python -m pip install reportlab python-docx).
Data sources and credits: Microsoft Planetary Computer (Sentinel-2, Landsat, ESA WorldCover, Copernicus DEM, Sentinel-5P), OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL), MERIT-Hydro / Global Watersheds (M. Heberger), ISRIC SoilGrids, Open-Meteo, WorldPop, ANSD (RGPHAE 2023), geoBoundaries.
