Keyboard-first CAD drafting for QGIS 3.28 to 4.x: a command line with CAD aliases, object snaps, Ortho and Polar tracking and dynamic input, 44 tools from line, offset, trim and fillet to array and dimensions, and street and parcel tools for urban planning.
CAD Drafting Toolset brings CAD drafting habits into QGIS editing. Type a command such as L, PL, O, TR or F in the dock's command line and keep your hands on the keyboard: points, distances, radii, angles and counts are typed, Space works like Enter, and LINE keeps drawing from the last point until you stop it. Object snaps show what the cursor is locked to with CAD-style glyphs, Ortho and Polar tracking hold the direction, and dynamic input shows length and angle at the cursor.
44 tools in five groups. Draw: line, polyline, rectangle, regular polygon, circle, arc, construction lines, divide, hatch, buffer. Modify: offset, multi-offset, trim, extend, break, lengthen, fillet, chamfer, join, explode, stretch, vertex edit. Transform: move, copy, rotate, scale, mirror, align, array. Measure: distance, area, selected line and area, dimensions. Urban: road platform, junction, block chamfer, buildable envelope with setbacks, sight triangle, parking layout, roundabout, cul-de-sac turning head.
Safe editing: a tool changes only the active layer, only while you have it in edit mode, and each action is one undo step. The plugin never starts or saves editing on your layers, and new features get their own GeoPackage keys. Tools that make reference geometry (buffer, hatch, dimensions, construction lines, the urban outputs) write to their own planx_ layers, which the plugin manages itself, instead of your data.
Exact units: in a projected CRS, typed lengths are in that CRS's own unit (metres, feet or US survey feet) and the dock names the unit; in a geographic CRS such as EPSG:4326, typed lengths are metres measured on the ground (m geodesic). Array spacing follows the same rule; Measure and Dimension measure as QGIS does, in metres on the project ellipsoid or in the CRS's own unit when no ellipsoid is set, and always name the unit. Snaps use visible layers only and, when QGIS snapping is on, the layers it snaps to.
The dock keeps each tool's settings next to it, remembers command history and pinned tools, shows live coordinates, and says why a layer is not ready instead of failing silently. Plugin shortcuts never take a key QGIS already uses, and every command can be given a key in Settings, Keyboard Shortcuts. Runs on QGIS 3.28 LTR to QGIS 4.x.
