Download Google Open Buildings v3 footprints as polygons, points or both, for the map view or a polygon layer.
Downloads building footprints from Google Open Buildings v3 for the current map extent or the polygons of a layer. Output as polygons, centroid points or both, with confidence, area and Plus Code, coloured by confidence.
Coverage: Africa, South and Southeast Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean only. Europe and North America have no data.
Google publishes the data as whole files of about 100 km by 100 km, so the first run in a region downloads every file the area touches (up to a few hundred MB). Files are cached in the QGIS profile folder and reused. No extra Python packages are needed.
Data licence: Google Open Buildings is published by Google under CC BY 4.0 and ODbL v1.0; you may use it under either. Credit Google Open Buildings when you publish maps or data made with it. This plugin is not affiliated with Google.
Runs as a Processing algorithm, so it also works in models, batch mode and qgis_process.
