Simulates onshore oil spills and H2S dispersion with map animations.
Onshore Spill Simulator routes spilled oil over the terrain of a DEM and through the drainage network, cell by cell and minute by minute. It models the pool at the source (cellar or bund first), well spillage spray falling downwind as droplets, gravity flow on the oil free surface with ponding and spill-over, surface retention by vegetation, infiltration into the soil (Green-Ampt scaled for oil), evaporation (Fingas equations) with the rise in viscosity, rainstorm wash-off, and transport down flowing streams with bank stranding. It reports arrival times at towns, water points, dugouts, health facilities and other receptors, the mass balance, the oil penetration against the depth to groundwater, and writes GeoTIFF time series, a GeoPackage of footprints and isochrones, CSV/Excel tables, a GIF/MP4 animation rendered from the visible project layers and a stand-alone HTML animation player. Version 2 adds an energy balance for the oil (sun, air, wind, ground) with temperature-dependent density, viscosity and yield stress so that waxy oil gels at night and moves again by day, roughness zones, barriers, recovery points and several sources; a Gaussian puff model for H2S from a gas leakage at a well with AEGL, IDLH and 500 ppm zones and receptor exposure; and a map tool to place a tanker anywhere and run it with one click. The bundled environmental inputs are synthetic examples; supply reviewed site inputs for assessments.
