Map Extent From Layer
A simple plugin that automatically links a layer's extent to layout map items, with an adjustable percentage buffer.

Usage:
1. Open a Print Layout and select (or add) a map item.
2. Click the Map Extent From Layer button in the layout toolbar to show the panel.
3. Tick Link extent to layer, choose a source layer.
4. The map extent now follows that layer. It re-evaluates on refresh/export, and (for vector layers) after each commit.
5. OPTIONAL: change buffer around the layer original extent. less then 100% for larger scale map or above 100% from smaller scale.
6. Untick to freeze and return to manual extent control, using other method if needed.
Keep in mind that the map extent may change as the layer source extent change while it toggled on.
The link is live, toggleable, and stored natively in the project
Because the link is implemented with the map item's data-defined extent properties, it keeps working even for people who open the project without this plugin installed — the plugin is simply a convenient UI for setting and clearing those expressions.

IT Adds a small dock to the Print Layout designer.
Pick any vector or raster layer in your project and link the selected map item's extent to that layer's extent.
A buffer field lets you grow or shrink the linked extent by a percentage (100% = exact extent).
When enabled the four extent bounds become data-defined expressions, so the link keeps working even without this plugin installed.
Toggle off keeps the map at its current view and returns it to manual control.
For vector layers, the layout preview is refreshed automatically when you finish an edit session (commit).
