brdrQ – Automatically align and correct geometries (points, lines, polygons) using reference boundaries. brdrQ proposes aligned geometries instead of manually editing/redrawing.
brdrQ is a QGIS plugin for aligning, correcting and reshaping geometries(polygons, lines, points) to existing reference boundaries. It helps GIS users improve geometric data quality by automatically matching boundaries of their own features with boundaries from a trusted reference layer.
Instead of manually editing or snapping vertices, brdrQ analyses the relationship between your geometries and the reference data and proposes corrected geometries that follow the reference boundaries.
This is especially useful when you need to:
* align geometries to cadastral parcels or other authoritative boundaries
* correct inaccurate or outdated geometric boundaries
* reshape geometries using a reference layer
* improve consistency between different geographic datasets
* reuse existing high-quality boundaries instead of digitizing them again
* prepare reliable geometries for area calculations, spatial analysis, visualization and querying
Typical reference data can include cadastral parcels, administrative boundaries, building outlines, topographic datasets, land-use boundaries, or any other trusted polygon/line/point dataset.
Unlike conventional vertex snapping, brdrQ is designed specifically for reconciling complete geometries with reference boundaries, making it useful for data integration, geometry correction and quality improvement workflows.
** How it works **
brdrQ uses the BRDR Python library to calculate how input geometries can be aligned with reference geometries. The resulting geometries can then be inspected and used within QGIS.
The plugin can be used in any region with reference data in a projected coordinate reference system (CRS) using metres.
For Flanders (Belgium), 'brdrQ' provides additional functionality to download GRB reference data on-the-fly, making it particularly easy to align geometries with authoritative Flemish base-reference data.
** Platform support **: brdrQ is tested for QGIS 3 and QGIS 4 on Windows. It may also work on Linux and macOS, but these platforms are currently not officially tested.
