Import information from a Ukrainian cadastral exchange file (IN4)
A QGIS plugin that imports Ukrainian cadastral exchange files (IN4) into QGIS as temporary in-memory layers.
Key features:
- Import one or multiple IN4 files in a single run.
- Automatic encoding detection (UTF-8 / Windows-1251).
- Parses core IN4 entities: cadastral zones, quarters, parcels, land-use parts, and neighbours.
- Builds separate temporary layers for each entity, plus diagnostic “orphan” layers to help troubleshoot broken/partial geometries.
- Attempts to assemble a cadastral ID when enough components are present.
- Groups imported layers into a dedicated project group with a timestamped name.
- Lets the user choose the coordinate reference system (CRS) before import.
- Logs parsing progress and anomalies via QGIS messages/logs.
Limitations / notes
- IN4 can vary in the wild; full compatibility is not guaranteed—always review the logs and results.
- Orphan layers are for debugging only and should not be treated as an official data source.
- Attributes are imported “as-is” from the IN4 file.
- Intended for QGIS 3.28+.
- For any official or legally relevant use, the imported output must be verified (and corrected if needed).
