ParkSense Metrics is a QGIS plugin designed to estimate urban parking supply and parking pressure using spatial analytics.
The plugin transforms building footprints, road networks, and optional point-of-interest (POI) data into measurable parking capacity indicators.
It supports grid-based parking supply estimation, roadside parking capacity modeling, building-based off-street parking estimation,
and POI-based demand proxy analysis to evaluate spatial parking pressure patterns in urban environments.
The plugin enables planners, researchers, and urban mobility analysts to convert spatial datasets into actionable parking capacity metrics
for mobility planning, land-use interpretation, and urban infrastructure assessment.
It includes the following main analytical components:
1. On-Street Parking Estimator – calculates curbside parking capacity from road geometry and parking-side rules.
2. Off-Street Parking Estimator – estimates parking capacity from building footprints and land-use parking factors.
3. Parking Supply Grid Generator – aggregates parking supply indicators into a regular spatial grid.
4. Parking Pressure Analyzer – compares parking demand proxies from POI data with available supply to derive parking pressure indicators.
ParkSense Metrics provides an integrated spatial analytics framework for evaluating parking capacity and parking pressure in urban areas.
The plugin applies rule-based estimation models to infer parking supply from built environment datasets,
enabling rapid parking supply assessment where detailed parking inventories are unavailable.
The framework supports urban mobility research, parking management studies, spatial infrastructure planning,
and smart city analytics by transforming spatial layers into interpretable parking capacity indicators.
