about=Open the dock, search a town under Named place (or zoom the map to your area), tick a dataset such as Buildings or Road network and press Download. Styled point, line and polygon layers are added to the map, each recording the OpenStreetMap attribution and the date of its data.
44 ready-made datasets in 16 topics cover the street network, buildings, land use, parks and water, public transport, cycling, schools, hospitals, heritage, administrative boundaries and everyday amenities for 15-minute city studies; tick several in a topic to get them in one download. Any OSM tag can be requested, and the Query tab combines up to six tags with ANY/ALL matching, regular expressions and an exclusion. The area can be the map view, the active layer, a named place (inside its mapped boundary when it has one), the bounding box of the selected features, a rectangle you draw or a radius around a point. Areas over 100 km² are downloaded in parts, up to 2,500 km² per download, and a part the servers find too dense is split into smaller ones. When some parts cannot be fetched, the plugin says "Finished with gaps" and Continue fetches only those once the servers are ready. A short request in English or Turkish, such as "parks in Konak", fills in the form.
Results stay as temporary layers or go into a GeoPackage that stores the style, the attribution and the data date. Typed columns (height_m, levels_n, lanes_n, maxspd_kmh, width_m, pop_n, length_m, area_m2) sit beside the OSM tags, and 17 map styles restyle the layers live.
Servers: downloads use overpass.private.coffee and overpass-api.de, one request at a time and at most 64 per download, and rest a server that is busy or asks to slow down. If both fail or are resting for a part of the area, that part can come from Geofabrik's Postpass at postpass.geofabrik.de (optional, off by default; turn it on in the dock or with ALLOW_FALLBACK). Place searches go to nominatim.openstreetmap.org, and the optional basemap loads tiles from tile.openstreetmap.org. Answers are kept in a local cache for an hour, or a day for the parts of a download with gaps. Commands are interpreted on your computer.
Agent Protocol v1 offers four Processing endpoints, three of which 02SmartModeler runs after a validated proposal and your approval.

changelog=
1.6.0 - A download now either works or says why. The network client follows the 2026 Overpass rules: it rests a server that is busy, refuses or asks to slow down, asks each server at most once per part, stops early when the servers are down, sends at most 64 requests per download, splits dense parts and claims less server memory. Servers are overpass.private.coffee and overpass-api.de (the overpass.kumi.systems alias is gone), and every request carries a Referer naming the plugin; when both fail or are resting, Geofabrik's Postpass can answer instead (optional, off by default; turn it on in the dock or with ALLOW_FALLBACK). The dock shows the elapsed time, the part and the server, ends with a plain message, and a download with missing parts says Finished with gaps and offers Continue once the servers are ready. Exact place boundaries now work: the place's outline comes from Nominatim and only features that touch it are kept. Open ways no longer become polygons, holes follow the geometry, invalid outlines are repaired, features that cannot be built are counted (and those outside the chosen area counted apart, not called failures), typed columns are added, and the attribution and data date are stored inside the GeoPackage. New dataset: Everyday amenities (15-minute city); Processing preset numbers stay stable. New Processing outputs: TILES_TOTAL, TILES_MISSING, DATA_SOURCE, FEATURES_DROPPED, FEATURES_OUTSIDE, NOTICE. Also: a start at Named place on an empty map, Download and status in a fixed footer, the basemap under the data, Report a problem, and a dock readable under every built-in QGIS theme (default, Blend of Gray, Night Mapping).
1.5.1 - Hub listing text rewritten; author Geophilo; university affiliation removed; documentation links use the standard geophilo.com pages (manual.html, guide/); manual HTML no longer ships in the plugin package.
1.5.0 - Keep, find and repeat downloads. Save to a GeoPackage with the style stored inside the file, or keep temporary layers as before; every result layer now carries the OpenStreetMap attribution and the date of the OSM data in its metadata. New areas: the selected features, a rectangle drawn on the map, and a radius of 50 m to 5 km around the map centre, the selection or a searched place (Processing: AROUND_X, AROUND_Y, AROUND_METERS; the data date is returned as OSM_TIMESTAMP). Recent downloads can be run again in one click. A large 'All tagged objects' download asks before it starts. The Command tab also understands Turkish requests.
1.4.0 - Redesign plugin icon to the circular teal 3D studio diorama brand language. Extend exact administrative-boundary clipping (AREA_ID) to all four Processing endpoints and dock workflows (Presets, Custom tag, and Advanced Query). Add waterway, water, cycleway, emergency, healthcare, and traffic_calming attribute columns and direct cartographic classification for wildcard and thematic downloads. Add pointOnSurface fallback for relation points, cross-theme multi-dataset commands, live project layer restyling on theme or road-width change, and a one-click Clear cache action.
1.3.6 - Redesign plugin icon to high-end 3D tactile brand design with circular teal pedestal, zero margin, and refreshed documentation links.
1.3.5 - Enforce the 100 km2 per-request ceiling for administrative and exact place boundaries by preserving the area filter across tiles. Reject invalid regex before network access, keep downloads working when the persistent cache is malformed or unavailable, and make all pacing waits immediately cancellable. Synchronize the documentation and About dialog with the live 43-preset, 16-group, six-filter catalogue.
1.2.1 - Fix a crash on every download after the first one (the 1.2.0 persistent cache reused a SQLite connection across QGIS worker threads). A tiled download that loses one tile to a mirror timeout now keeps the tiles that succeeded instead of discarding the whole job. The docked panel now sizes to its real content and scrolls instead of clipping the Download button on a short docked panel. The dock opens tabbed with the Browser panel, a downloaded layer group is inserted at the top of the layer tree, and a small basemap-add button sits in the tab bar.
1.2.0 - Query and Command overhaul. Advanced Query: raise the tag filter cap from four to six, add an optional exclude key/value applied to every download endpoint after the response arrives, add an optional regex (~) value-matching mode, retry a transient mirror error once before failing over, and persist the Overpass response cache to disk so a repeated request can be instant even after restarting QGIS. Command: tolerate small misspellings via a bounded offline fuzzy match, recognise "without X" to exclude a tag and route the match to the Query tab, check a second same-theme dataset when a command names more than one, and keep a clickable recent-commands list.
1.1.1 - Follow the companion plugin's rename: SmartModeler GIS is now 02Agent Smart Modeler (package planx_smartmodeler -> zero2smartmodeler). Update the AI Connections bridge lookup and user-facing text; no functional change for users who update both plugins together.
1.1.0 - Add Nominatim place search with ranked matches, exact administrative-boundary downloads, tiled wide extents up to 2,500 km2 with automatic merging, a live request-size estimate and five illustrated task guides. Fix the route and tourism attribute columns holding each other's values, and preserve multi-part route relations.
1.0.0 - Stable public release: remove the experimental flag, align Hub metadata, publish the complete user and technical documentation, and verify both QGIS runtime smoke suites.
0.5.5 - Add OpenStreetMap, tile-service and Overpass API notices and preserve attribution metadata on the optional basemap.
0.5.4 - Support natural-language place commands using the of connector.
0.5.3 - Resolve named places in the background and zoom to the matched administrative extent.
0.5.2 - Refresh the reference manual with Getting Started, multi-dataset and reliability guidance.
0.5.1 - Refine dock hierarchy, dataset selection actions, global examples and About copy.
0.5.0 - Add the OSM basemap action, expanded Urban Context, highway-aware road widths, global place examples and route relations.
0.4.4 - Declare QGIS 3.28+ and QGIS 4 compatibility in plugin metadata and documentation.
0.4.0 - Add semantic map themes, structured advanced queries, Agent Protocol v1 and dual-runtime regression coverage.
0.3.0 - Add the Urban Context compound preset for roads, buildings and trees.
0.2.0 - Rebuild the dock, assemble multipolygon relations and harden command and task workflows.
0.1.0 - Initial release with curated presets, custom tags, bounded Overpass fallback and SmartModeler-ready Processing algorithms.
