description=Spatially distributed monthly water balance model for QGIS. Estimates groundwater recharge, evapotranspiration, surface runoff, and interception using GeoTIFF inputs. Adds a dynamic soil-water bucket to the original Wetspass-M 2016 physics, with automatic spin-up convergence detection, focused recharge along ephemeral streams, a climate-zone-based recharge cap, and polygon-based output cropping.
about=WetSpass-M Modern is a modernized version of the original Wetspass-M 2016 model (Abdollahi, Bashir & Batelaan, Vrije Universiteit Brussel). It estimates diffuse and focused groundwater recharge, evapotranspiration, surface runoff, and interception at monthly, seasonal, and annual time steps.
The modernization preserves the original physics but adds:
    - A dynamic soil-water bucket replacing the original quasi-steady-state assumption.
    - An ET cap at (P - runoff) instead of P, ensuring the catchment-scale mass balance closes exactly.
    - Groundwater-fed ET reported separately as Cell_gw_discharge.
    - Nodata-preserving aggregation so annual rasters share the same valid-cell mask.
    - Automatic spin-up with convergence detection (mean |dS| compared to max(1 mm, 0.5%% of mean annual P)).
    - Automatic checkpointing after every completed month.
    - A Skip to final cycle button on the Progress tab.
    - A dedicated Water Balance tab with explicit dS and an acceptability verdict.
    - A Focused Recharge module for streambed infiltration along ephemeral stream networks.
    - A user-selectable combine method for diffusive + focused recharge.
    - A Crop outputs to boundary tool.
    - A River Conductance module for MODFLOW 6 integration.
Inputs: 12 monthly climate rasters, a DEM, land use, soil, optional slope, and optional geology.
Outputs: monthly, seasonal, and annual GeoTIFFs of every flux, plus a per-month summary table.

changelog=
    2.4.1 (2026-10-25)
    - Added instant 'Skip to Final Cycle' that aborts the current month/block.
    - Enabled 'Run' button during paused states to allow starting fresh runs.
    - Default spin-up cycles increased to 30 (safe due to early convergence exit).
    - Added Geology Map input and Grid consistency checks.
    - Fixed mass balance closure issues in humid lake catchments.

    2.4.0 (2026-10-25)
    - Added "River Conductance" tab for MODFLOW 6 RIV package integration.
    - Implemented Field-Anchored Geomorphic Scaling for conductance, depth, width, and stage.
    - Added Stream Typology weighting (Perennial, Intermittent, Ephemeral).
    - Added automatic Gaining/Losing stream classification based on streambed vs water table elevation.
    - Added export of MODFLOW-ready CSV tables with absolute Stage and Rbot elevations.
    - Implemented Multi-Flow Direction (MFD) hydrology engine for accurate stream routing in flat areas.
    - Added Smart Cache clearing for GWD capping.
    - Beautified UI (Green Run button, formula reference box, green progress bars).

2.1.2 — Hybrid ET, bucket floor, reconciled closure
    2026-10-14
    - Hybrid ET bank. The root-zone water term used in the ET formula now interpolates between the modern small-bank factor (x10) and the original Wetspass-M 2016 large-bank factor (x1000) based on how full the soil bucket is.
    - Minimum bucket capacity floor of 50 mm. Prevents thin-soil cells from overflowing on every rain event and producing spurious recharge.
    - Water Balance tab now reconciles focused recharge correctly.
