about=CAD Drafting Toolset brings CAD drafting habits into QGIS editing. Type a command such as L, PL, O, TR or F in the dock's command line and keep your hands on the keyboard: points, distances, radii, angles and counts are typed, Space works like Enter, and LINE keeps drawing from the last point until you stop it. Object snaps show what the cursor is locked to with CAD-style glyphs, Ortho and Polar tracking hold the direction, and dynamic input shows length and angle at the cursor.
44 tools in five groups. Draw: line, polyline, rectangle, regular polygon, circle, arc, construction lines, divide, hatch, buffer. Modify: offset, multi-offset, trim, extend, break, lengthen, fillet, chamfer, join, explode, stretch, vertex edit. Transform: move, copy, rotate, scale, mirror, align, array. Measure: distance, area, selected line and area, dimensions. Urban: road platform, junction, block chamfer, buildable envelope with setbacks, sight triangle, parking layout, roundabout, cul-de-sac turning head.
Safe editing: a tool changes only the active layer, only while you have it in edit mode, and each action is one undo step. The plugin never starts or saves editing on your layers, and new features get their own GeoPackage keys. Tools that make reference geometry (buffer, hatch, dimensions, construction lines, the urban outputs) write to their own planx_ layers, which the plugin manages itself, instead of your data.
Exact units: in a projected CRS, typed lengths are in that CRS's own unit (metres, feet or US survey feet) and the dock names the unit; in a geographic CRS such as EPSG:4326, typed lengths are metres measured on the ground (m geodesic). Array spacing follows the same rule; Measure and Dimension measure as QGIS does, in metres on the project ellipsoid or in the CRS's own unit when no ellipsoid is set, and always name the unit. Snaps use visible layers only and, when QGIS snapping is on, the layers it snaps to.
The dock keeps each tool's settings next to it, remembers command history and pinned tools, shows live coordinates, and says why a layer is not ready instead of failing silently. Plugin shortcuts never take a key QGIS already uses, and every command can be given a key in Settings, Keyboard Shortcuts. Runs on QGIS 3.28 LTR to QGIS 4.x.

changelog=
1.30.0 - Your data is safe: every tool changes only the active layer while you edit it, one undo step per action, and never starts or saves editing on your layers; Block Chamfer no longer trims and saves other layers, and new features no longer copy GeoPackage keys, so saving works after Offset, Array, Copy, Fillet, Trim, Chamfer, Divide and Junction. Loads on QGIS 3.28 to 3.34 (Python 3.9), where 29 tools failed. Leaves QGIS's own shortcuts alone; all commands are assignable in Settings, Keyboard Shortcuts. Exact units in projected, feet and geographic CRSs for typed input, Ortho, Polar, Array, Measure and Dimension. Tangent fillets on polylines with multipart and Z kept, Extend at the clicked end, Trim only where the line is cut, polar arrays without a duplicate (array counts now include the source, and a positive polar sweep turns counter-clockwise). Typed values in Offset, Fillet, Chamfer and Array, strict command aliases, Space as Enter, LINE that keeps drawing. Snaps on visible layers only. Readable on Night Mapping and Blend of Gray, a narrower dock, a working issue tracker and a command reference entry for every tool.
1.29.1 - Alias badge beside each tool name; PlanX colours in light and dark themes; amber read-only layer bar; one-line coordinates; CAD Drafting Toolset in every title; developer smoke-test checklist removed from the menu and Docs.
1.29.0 - Three-tab dock (CAD, Measure, Urban) with labelled tools, inline settings for 12 tools, session-wide OSNAP/ORTHO/POLAR/DYN, and five street and parcel design tools: Buildable Envelope, Sight Triangle, Parking Layout, Roundabout and Turning Head (44 tools).
1.28.0 - Precision drafting: AutoCAD-grade Object Snap (OSNAP) with typed glyph markers, Ortho (F8) and Polar (F10) tracking with dashed rays, and live Dynamic Input Heads-Up Display (F12). Unified DraftingWorkbench, application-wide shortcuts, pure pytest suite, and dual-runtime QGIS 3 LTR and QGIS 4 verification.
1.27.6 - Redesign plugin icon to high-end 3D tactile brand design with circular teal pedestal, zero margin, and refreshed documentation links.
PlanX CAD Toolset 1.27.0 - Core modify gap-fillers: six new drafting commands.
        - Chamfer (CHA): straight distance-distance corner cut between two lines, with a live hover preview and automatic trimming of both lines.
        - Break (BR): split a line at a picked point, or remove the span between two picked points.
        - Lengthen (LEN): change a line by delta, percent, or total length; the end you click is the end that moves.
        - Align (AL): move and rotate a feature onto source/destination point pairs, with optional scaling.
        - Stretch (S): drag a crossing window and move only the vertices inside it, across every editable layer at once.
        - Explode (X): split a multipart feature into single parts, or a line/polygon boundary into single segments.
        - CHAMFER and CHA now start the general two-line Chamfer tool; the urban Block Chamfer keeps BLOCK and BLOCKCHAMFER.
        - QGIS 4 readiness: managed memory layers declare their fields in the provider URI, removing the last QVariant usage from the plugin.
PlanX CAD Toolset 1.26.2 - Restored the author spelling in plugin metadata.
PlanX CAD Toolset 1.26.1 - QGIS 4 / Qt6 compatibility and Plugin Hub security-scan maintenance.
        - Scoped every QGIS enum access for Qt6 / QGIS 4 (geometry types via QgsWkbTypes.GeometryType, vertex and rubber-band markers via IconType), clearing all Qt6 enum-compatibility warnings while staying compatible with QGIS 3.28 LTR.
        - Replaced defensive try/except wrappers with contextlib.suppress to resolve the Plugin Hub Bandit security-scan findings; the same best-effort operations remain guarded with no change in behavior.
        - No functional, command, shortcut, or project-format changes.
