about=<p>QGISRed is a freeware QGIS plugin developed to assist in building and analyzing hydraulic models of water distribution networks of any complexity, up to the level of detail required by Digital Twins. The plugin works seamlessly with QGIS, which enables the user to georeference all network elements, use geographic background layers, edit graphical and alphanumeric data, use geoprocessing tools, visualize data by layers, customize the symbology, etc.</p><p>QGISRed relies on an easy-to-use relational database of SHP and DBF files based on the EPANET data model, which has been extended to add new capabilities. Starting from the EPANET data model significantly reduces the learning curve.</p><p>In fact, the previous skills required on QGIS are minimal because QGISRed provides numerous tools to help build hydraulic models, to manage demand scenarios and to analyze the results without the need to use the QGIS environment, such as:</p><ul><li>Project manager for easy project loading and storage.</li><li>Automatic creation of new empty projects.</li><li>Import/export EPANET INP files. </li><li>Import basic network components and other auxiliary components managed by the Digital Twin (DT), such as service connections, isolation valves and sensors from Shapefiles.</li><li>Graphical editing tools for all network elements, including those of the DT (add, delete, move, edit vertices and nodes, reverse links, multiple selection, etc.).</li><li>Automatic generation of topological relationships between all the network elements when needed.</li><li>A set of tools to debug the network layout and verify its connectivity and hydraulic viability.</li><li>Default values for newly created elements.</li><li>Property editor for all components of the model and DT, including a browser.</li><li>Complete editor of analysis options and default values.</li><li>Automatic calculation of pipe lengths from the coordinates of the vertices.</li><li>Automatic interpolation of node elevations from DTM.</li><li>Automatic estimation of pipe roughness from the material and age of pipes.</li><li>Conversion of roughness coefficients between different head loss formulas and unit systems.</li><li>Managing multiple demands and quality sources as distinct layers and editing their properties, integrated with those of the nodes.</li><li>Automatic nodal demand allocation from global, sectoral or punctual consumptions.</li><li>Managing scenarios with multiple demands by category.</li><li>Automatic pattern and hydraulic efficiency allocation, either global or by sector.</li><li>Scenario builder for various model parameters by importing/exporting files</li><li>Powerful editors for curves, patterns, controls and rules.</li><li>Validation of any of the model properties against typical data entry errors.</li><li>Management of service connections and isolation valves as differentiated elements.</li><li>Loading demands to service connections from the meter readings, and moving them to the closest nodes.</li><li>Detection of isolated zones when closing the isolation valves and cancelling the demands on them.</li><li>Optional integration of service connections into the model.</li><li>Declaration of the meter sensors as distinct elements and the association of signals to them.</li><li>Reading field data for the simulation period from files and exporting to EPANET.</li><li>Automatic identification of hydraulic sectors and demand zones.</li><li>Identification of the isolated segments in the event of a fault at any point in the network and detection of the isolated demands.</li><li>Creation of thematic maps for most properties of the different network elements.</li><li>Model simulation by using the EPANET toolkit 2.3.</li><li>Visualization of simulation results by means of tables, colour-coded layers, arrows and floating or static labels.</li><li>Use of a navigation bar to view how results change over time, and check them with the status report.</li><li>View the statistical parameters for the entire simulation period for the variables associated with each element.</li><li>Automatic creation of legends and symbols for viewing data and results, which can be edited using a proper Legend Editor.</li><li>Location of any element in the network using its ID, and identify the adjacent elements.</li><li>Explore the properties of any element—whether data or results—from a permanent window.</li><li>Run queries based on one or more criteria to check against the data, the results, or both.</li><li>Show time series curves for one or more results on the same graph, whether or not they are of the same magnitude.</li></ul><p>Nevertheless, if the user decides to use the QGIS tools to edit the data, QGISRed provides powerful facilities to detect potential editing errors before simulating the model or to fill in the missing information.</p><p>QGISRed is currently available in English and Spanish, and automatically adapts to the language selected for the QGIS interface.</p><p>The development of the new QGISRed plugin is an initiative of the <b><a href="https://iiama.webs.upv.es/en/research/research-groups/hydraulic-networks-and-pressurised-systems/">REDHISP</a> Research Group</b> of the Institute of Water and Environmental Engineering (<b><a href="https://iiama.webs.upv.es/en/home/">IIAMA</a></b>) of the <b>Polytechnic University of Valencia</b>, <b><a href="http://www.upv.es/index-en.html">UPV</a></b> (Spain), led by <b>Professor <a href="https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Fernando_Martinez_Alzamora">Fernando Martínez Alzamora</a></b>. Its implementation was led up to 2022 by <b><a href="https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Nestor_Lerma">Néstor Lerma</a></b> at <b><a href="https://waterpi.com/">WaterPi</a></b>, and from version 0.19 onwards he has resumed it as part of the company <b>Fluit</b>. Subsequently, <b><a href="https://ingeniousware.com/">Ingeniousware</a> GmbH</b> has collaborated in the development. <b>QGISRed versions after 0.17 are being funded by the <a href="https://www.iadb.org/en">Inter-American Development Bank</a> (IDB)</b> through contract C-RG-T4041-P001.</p><p>The QGISRed extension for QGIS is an update of the old GISRed application developed by our group for the ArcView 3.1 environment (<b><a href="https://www.researchgate.net/publication/336170857_Upgrade_of_the_GISRed_application_for_the_free_analysis_of_WDN_under_GIS_environment">see launching paper</a></b>). Currently, the name GISRed has been kept in relation to the libraries developed in .net, which are used by QGISRed to improve the processing time and constitute the core of the GISRed standalone application.</p><p>For more information, the user can check the official website of <b><a href="https://qgisred.upv.es/en">QGISRed</a></b> or the<b><a href="https://plugins.qgis.org/plugins/QGISRed/"> section of QGISRed</a></b> in the official QGIS plugin repository. Also a <b><a href="https://qgisred.upv.es/manuals/0.19/en">User’s Manual</a></b> in English is available (also in Spanish, French and Portuguese).</p><p><b>Requirements</b>: <b>QGIS 3.28 or higher</b> - <b>.Net Framework 4.8</b> - <b>Windows OS</b>.</p>

changelog=version 0.19:
      User Interface:
      * Grouping of informative options such as News, Incidents, Manual, Rating, Subscriptions and About... in a new Info entry in the main menu.
      * Relocation of the Queries menu behind the Tools menu, in the main menu bar.
      * Incorporation of a brand and a prefix in the title of all QGISRed panels to differentiate them from others.
      * Incorporation of a warning icon in those layers that may become outdated when changes are made to the data.
      Project Manager:
      * Now you can independently change the name of the QGISRed project and the name of the file that houses the map information (qgz).
      * When moving a project, you can move the data and the map file (qgz) together, or independently to different folders.
      * The option to make a backup of the project has been removed, and has been replaced by the option to Export the project, with more alternatives.
      * When exporting a project, you can choose the QGISRed layer groups and the layers outside the project (cartographies, MDT, etc.) to copy, among those present in the layers panel. All of this is saved in a single .zip file.
      * To export the map qgz file, it must be in the same project folder or at a higher level. The cartographic information should be in folders parallel to the project folder.
      * When importing a QGISRed project, all previously exported information is restored to a new folder, maintaining the structure of all files.
      Import of shapes:
      * Possibility of selecting the candidate pipes to connect the connections that start from the imported consumption points.
      Material tables:
      * Declaration of a different default material table for each of the four supported languages.
      * New options in the materials table editing dialog, to copy, load and edit new tables at a global level, before creating a project or from within it.
      * New options to choose the desired material table when creating a new project or importing shape files for the first time.
      Layer management:
      * Creation of a new group of layers called AuxiliaryLayers to host complementary themes to the basic themes.
      * Creation of a subgroup within the group of Auxiliary Layers, called Demand Builder, to host its own topics: sectors, specific demands and links.
      * Adding a new tab to the Layer Manager to create, delete, load or download auxiliary layers linked to the Demand Builder.
      Graphic edition:
      * Wand tapping on a pump, valve, or pipe now toggles only between open and closed states.
      * To toggle between the active or closed state of a valve, or declare a CV on a pipe, hold the Ctrl key when wand-clicking.
      * When inserting a pump or valve in a section smaller than the separation established between the extreme nodes, they are maintained and no longer move.
      * When moving a node no layer is left open, avoiding conflicts with other editing tools.
      * Revised the vertex editing tool to make it more user-friendly.
      * When splitting a pipe at an intermediate point, the Id is split by adding a numerical suffix. The original Id can be recovered if the sections are merged in the opposite direction to which the intermediate nodes were created.
      * When two pipes in series cannot be joined by eliminating the intermediate node, the cause is reported.
      * Revised the tool for merging or separating nodes, allowing greater separation between them.
      * Creating a T connection now extends the last section of the branch until it intersects with the main pipe.
      * Revised the undo T and crosses tools, removing some restrictions and standardizing mouse actions.
      Group property editing:
      * New Edit menu option to edit the properties of group elements.
      * Graphical preselection of the elements to modify with multiple selection tools.
      * Application of filters to restrict the elements to modify, depending on the type of property.

      * Preview in the attribute table of the changes made before consolidating them.
      Thematic maps:
      * Incorporation of new thematic maps linked to pipes: Year of installation, age, and roughness coefficient according to loss formula.
      * New thematic maps linked to junctions: Elevations and Total Base Demand graduated by size.
      * When creating the material map, each material is now assigned its own color based on its abbreviation and language, which is editable.
      * When a thematic map becomes outdated due to a change in units or loss formula, a warning icon is displayed and can be updated by clicking on it.
      Legend Editor:
      * Improvements to wizards to automatically create ranges, sizes and colors to set the legend for all layers.
      * Possibility of modifying some style parameters of the basic themes of the Data group.
      * Incorporation to the QGISRed Legends Editor of the layers created by Queries (thematic maps, hydraulic sectors, trees, etc.).
      * Added Results layers to the Legend Editor to customize its style.
      * Option to save legends at the project level, or at the user level to apply them to new projects.

      * Option to manage specific consumption topics and add several demands to the same topic.
      * Recognition of various units when declaring the consumption to be imported.
      * Option to assign specific demands to the ends of the nearest pipe instead of directly searching for the nearest nodes.
      * Option to consider or not the ends of pumps and valves as possible demand nodes.
      * Option to distribute specific demands based on the diameters of the pipes that converge at the nodes, or in combination with their distance from the consumption points.
      * Notification of loaded nodes that are more than a given distance from consumption points.
      * Possibility of editing and reusing links between consumption points and demand nodes.
      * Assignment of demands to nodes based on connections declared as elements of the Digital Twin.
      * Differentiation of base demands by categories, both in specific consumption and by connections, creating multiple demands at the nodes.
      * Option to load demands only from the selected sectors, consumption points or connections.
      * Option to use your own theme to assign efficiencies and patterns by sector, import their values and edit them.
      * Option to apply hydraulic efficiencies and assign demand patterns by categories.
